In 1996 Shelley would build on her sales & use tax experience, going to work for C.L. Chance & Company, where she helped clients realize refunds through reverse audit reviews. Chance but also established a home-based practice of her own, managing the month-to-month bookkeeping operations for companies in the real estate, service, retail, construction, medical and food and beverage industries.
